Audit and restructure the design system website’s information architecture.

The problem?
The existing Design System documentation website’s inconsistent experience and confusing navigation caused frustration among internal users.
Recognized the impact this was having on efficiency and becoming a blocker on asset creation. I proactively suggested a solution to conduct a full UX audit and cleanup of the Design System site's IA and content structure.
Value?
Increase design efficiency and ensure the consistent use of components, reducing technical issues.
- Paired up with UX designer to conduct a complete audit of the site's existing structure, content categorization, and navigation paths to understand the current structure.
- Focus on finding the cause of the "inconsistency" and fix it by setting up rules and flows.
Test & Launch.
Testing confirmed that the new IA structure was significantly easier to understand and use.
By proactively suggesting and executing a full UX audit and IA redesign, we transformed the design system documentation site from a pain into an helpful resource. Post launch feedback will keep on collected as design system is a living product and success can be measured through continuous usage.
Primary user testing.
Test method
- Designers → The primary users, focused on component asset location and visual consistency
- Content writers → Focused on tone and voice guidelines and content flow
- Developers → Focused on implementation details and technical contact
